For You! Genevieve Opening for A Great Big World at Lincoln Hall (April 3, 2016)

When people ask her what she does, Genevieve responds “I sing. I make music. It’s what makes me feel alive.” On this Sunday night, in her hometown, it’s clear this answer is completely truthful. She enjoys herself fully while on the stage and the audience does the same. She is also very talented and displays her vocal skills during “For You”. The crowd happily sings along, “For you, I would stand in the line of fire!”

She is excited to share a few new songs tonight. Growing up in a high rise in Chicago, she enjoyed “getting away” to the suburbs. “You always want what you don’t have”. The resulting song is a very happy tune about hanging out in a Taco Bell parking lot at 3am.

To close out the night, she puts on her technicolor dreamcoat to sing “Show Your Colors”. The crowd is jumping around and singing. She is just as happy as Joseph singing “Joseph’s Coat (The Coat of Many Colors)” in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She is so friendly, charming, and quirky, that her live shows feel like hanging out in her living room. And it’s always a joy to hang out with Genevieve!
