Reggae Rock! Jon Wayne and the Pain at The Bottom Lounge (April 8, 2016)

Jon Wayne and the Pain are all about the love. It’s clear from a sampling of their song titles: Thankful, Helpful, Extended Family, and Festival Friends. They have a great positive message that showcases their Midwestern values (They are from Minneapolis). Also, the band is truly a collaboration of skilled musicians. Each band member takes the spotlight at different times with their own reggae style. The range of instruments played is impressive. Throughout their set, they have drums, guitar, bass synth, and organ with touches of saxophone, flute, melodica (also known as the pianica, blow-organ, key harmonica), and E.W.I (electronic wind instrument). The blend of all these instruments creates a unique grooving reggae sound that has everyone smiling and dancing along. It was like a festival inside even though it was snowing outside!
