Fantastic Melodies! Geographer at Empty Bottle (April 10, 2016)

The melody begins on the cello and the crowd immediately erupts. Everyone recognizes the song as “This Is How We Walk on the Moon” from Endless Motion Vol 1. The drums come in next followed by keys. Finally, the vocals top it off. It’s a great example of how Geographer layers the different elements of their songs expertly. It starts with a fantastic melody and then it continues to build to a full sound.

This sound is created with an impressive list of instruments. Mike Deni is on vocals, guitar, keys, synth, saxophone, and cowbell. Joyce Lee plays an electric cello and synth.  Duncan Nielsen rocks the guitar, bass, synth, backup vocals, and cowbell too.  Cody Rhodes keeps the beat on drums and a sampler pad. They have been relentlessly touring (this is their third show in Chicago in less than a year) and they continue to sound more and more polished. They have a bright future ahead of them and it was a pleasure to catch them up close at The Empty Bottle!
