Dorante has just arrived in Paris and he immediately begins spinning tall tales. The stories get more and more complex as his lies mix with misunderstandings leaving the audience trying to figure out what’s really happening. This is all while they are speaking in rhyming verse. It’s a wildly funny adventure that keeps the audience fully enthralled.
Josh Hambrock is excellent as Dorante. He’s charming and sly and can tell quite a story. Brendan Hutt is equally great as Cliton, Dorante’s sidekick. His performance of Cliton is similar to Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueler. They’re both mischievous and extremely likeable.
Meghann Tabor and Katherine Schwartz as Claire and Lucrece are delightful. Who is who? You’ll have to watch to find out! Megan DeLay is sublime as Isabelle / Sabine. The confusion caused by these twins leads to some of the biggest laughs of the night.
Shane Roberie as Alcippe, Michael Hagedorn as Geronte, and Joshua Servantez as Philiste are superb in their roles as well. Lastly, the costumes are excellent. Every character’s outfit superbly matches their personality.
